Welcome to the Duvall House Bed & Breakfast, where you will be
treated as a part of our extended family. Come relax here
in Kewaunee, a short walk from the sandy beach on Lake Michigan. Venture
out to Door County during the day and return to a quiet, peaceful
atmosphere here at the Duvall House, where you
will find friendly and hospitable hosts, bountiful breakfasts and
RATES much lower than Door County.
For those Green Bay
Packer Fans the Duvall House is only 26 miles from Green Bay with easy
access to the game.
Joseph Duvall
built this wonderful Italianate style "Villa" in 1881. The Duvall
House was the first mansion to be built in the Marquette Historic
District.
As you enter through the double etched doors you will immediately
notice the parquet floors in the foyer which leads to the spiral
staircase. On either side of the foyer is ten foot pocket
doors which are beautifully etched and match all of the exterior doors
throughout the house. To the right of the foyer, is the
"Entertainment Room" where you can watch the 50" surround sound
television.
Step back in time as you enter the "Victorian Parlor", where your
eyes will delight to the site of this gorgeous room. The sun
gleaming through the bay windows accent the five piece tapestry set with
its cherry stained wood, inviting you to revisit the past. Minnie
Duvall, Joseph's second wife, hangs in a golden frame just to the right
of the original marble fireplace, here also you will notice an early
1900's candelabra and clock on the mantel.
Enjoy your coffee out in the "Sunroom" where you can watch the
birds out in the yard, the bookcase is full of books on birds, flowers
and poetry for your reading pleasure. Take a walk out to the north lawn,
sit in the swing and enjoy the cool breeze coming off the lake.
